Are you looking for a 1996 toyota camry? Check out the Trusted Automotive Market Place LemonFree.com

Q: How do you reset the security system for a 1996 Toyota Camry after you replace the battery?
How do you reset the security system for a 1996 Toyota Camry after you replace the battery? Note, I do not have a keyless entry FOB for this car.
The problem is not the horning honking, but the fact that it will not start. Everything the dash works, power windows and even the radio… but none are any good if it is just sitting there and will not start.

A: you seriously need the key fob,

check the fuses, and quite possibly you have a bad key, its supposed to reset after you lock unlock the doors with the key.

and have you left the battery unhooked for more than ten minutes?

make sure no Additional stereo equipment, capacitors, amps etc keep a charge while the battery was unhooked, unhook those and it should reset just fine, otherwise you a have a bad alternator/starter wire check those, if badly corroded they will need replaced, accesories will work, just no start.

normally that amount of advice is worth 300$

Q: How much should I sell 1996 toyota camry with a locked engine for?
I’m looking to sell/get rid of my 1996 Camry since the engine locked up on it this past weekend. I recently put 1500 dollars worth of work into it with brand new brakes, tires, tune up, starter, struts and shocks. I don’t know if its worth anything now. But everything else was in stunning condition. I don’t feel like spending the 2k to get a new engine in it. How much could I sell it for random parts and whatnot.

A: Car over 10 years old with a locked engine.
won’t get much, maybe sell it in parts if you can go through that

Q: How much would YOU pay for a 1996 Toyota Camry in excellent condition if you knew it had been in an accident?
I got hit in the parking lot, and it damaged the headlight and turning signal. It bent the front reinforcement bar, so the headlight doesn’t sit quite right, but the car is in otherwise excellent condition. Low miles(123,000), maintained at a toyota dealership, no smoking, perfect condition interior. It gets 24mpg in the city, and still has all the stock parts/not modified at all.

It is a 1996 Toyota Camry LE sedan

A: $700.00

Q: 1996 toyota camry check engine light on and code is p0770?
I have 1996 toyota camry and the check engine light on with the code p0770 more then 6 months. It ran 100500 k miles. after viewing the forums I flushed the transmission fluid. But still the light is on. Please suggest me how I can get resolved this problem and where I can approach ?.
Yes the car is running good condition no issue. the problem is that i need to pass the emission test that I have to fix it.

A: Mad Jack is right about the “solenoid E malfunction”. i dont think he is right about a complete trans overhaul. Either one valve or one solenoid (E) is bad or plugged up. A good transmission tech should be able to drop the pan and get to the valve and solenoid pretty easy (there are several). check it, clean it or replace it. i think this is the valve that puts the trans into lock up mode over 50 mph. trans will still operate ok – it just wont go into full lock. If it locks up and wont unlock it couldnt shift or even move right. Beware that most trans shops dont really “work” on transmissions – they just want to flip in a rebuilt for a couple grand – that is all they know how to do. you have to find a real trans tech or look up the stuff yourself. if you get a service manual it is pretty staright forward.

Q: Why do I hear a loud bang noise from rear of my 1996 toyota camry on small bumps?
I’ve been hearing a loud banging noise every time my 1996 toyota camry hits even the smallest bump. The noise comes from rear side and it feels like my whole car pounds against the road? what can be the issue?

A: I’m no mechanic, I just play one on TV.

Sounds like the shocks are bad to me!

Q: How do you replace a thermostat on a 1996 toyota camry?
it has v4 eng. and it gets hot every 30 minutes so im trying to replace the thermostat on my 1996 toyota camry

A: The thermostat housing is located on the water pump. first drain the coolant. Then remove the upper radiator hose and the thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat and gasket. Reverse procedure to install. you should change your thermostat every time you do a tune up or every 2 years. Timing belt and water pump should be done together every 100,000 miles. Coolant should changed and system flushed every 36,000 miles. If your car takes 30 min. to get hot check to see that the cooling fan is working(A/C off)

Q: how much would it cost to replace cv boot on a 1996 toyota camry?
while putting in new break pads, my son noticed cv boot needed replacing. being lazy he put the new one on over the old one. is this as stupid as i think? how much will it cost for a mechanic to do it? 1996 toyota camry 4 cyl.

A: Probably around $300. Lots of labor involved. Let it go until the joint is trashed and have the whole axle replaced. Won’t cost much more. Maybe it will last until the rest of the car craps out with the split style boot on it.

Q: Do 1996 Toyota Camry stock stereo have connection for amplifier?
I have a 2 channel amplifier and was wondering if i can connect it to a 1996 Toyota Camry stock stereo?

A: all you need is an RCA jack and the remote wire.
if you wanna keep the stock stereo just buy an adapter.

Q: where can i get the gold “CAMRY” letters for the back of a 1996 toyota camry coupe?
I recently bought a 1996 Toyota Camry coupe that is missing the back letters on the trunk lid. Does anyone know where I can get these in gold?
I already called teh dealership and they told me that I have to buy the entire trunk lid, which would cost over $300.

A: I do not beleive they come in gold, but rather in chrome. There should be someone in your town to gold plate the emblems. This is what most dealerships do.

Q: How much does wiring job cost for a radio, clock, side mirrors on 1996 Toyota Camry cost?
I have a 1996 Toyota Camry LE and my son put a penny in the cigarette outlet when the car was off. The clock, radio, side mirrors(powered), and cig lighter are completely out. I’ve replaced all the 15’s and the one 20A fuses. And it still doesn’t work so now I’m thinking it’s a wiring problem. Anyone know of the cost for said job. Thank you ^_^

A: Pick up a Haynes or Chilton’s shop manual, then review the wiring diagram for that circuit. It is possible that it blew a fusible link, or a fuse you have not located. Very unlikely that the wiring is damaged, that’s what the fuses protect. An inexpensive Volt-ohm meter or 12V test light might prove handy.

Q: 1996 toyota camry.What kind of motor oil does it use?and how many qts does it use?
I just purchased a 1996 Toyota Camry without a Owner’s Manual.So i’m looking for informations regarding Motor Oil.What’s weight?Such as 5W-30,30W-40 or others.Thx.

A: I have a 93 and we use 10-30 and it takes 5 quarts, mine is a four cylinder.

Q: 1996 Toyota Camry V6 XLE starter problems?
I have a 1996 Camry, V6 XLE with about 175k miles on the clock. Recently when I started the car in the morning to go to work, the starter worked but it kept ‘clicking’ as the engine started. I was concerned so I turned the engine off, but the starter was still ‘clicking’. I had to take the key out of the ignition and disconnect the battery for the ‘clicking’ to stop. I recently bought a replacement starter, but I am wondering the cause of this problem as well as if there are any additional parts I may need to purchase to fix this problem. My boyfriend (an amateur mechanic) keeps telling me that I need to buy a new ignition switch or an igntition lock column. Every mechanic I have talked to over the phone says that I need a new starter, but I am not sure who to believe. Any ideas??

A: I had the same thing happen to me in a 1998 Suburban after I had bought a new battery for it. I didn’t think it was the starter or the solenoid because the clicking sound was coming from the steering column. It turned out to be the ignition lock cylinder, about $60.00 plus labor.

Q: My 1996 toyota camry 4 dr sedan check engine light is on due to trouble codes p0115/p0340. How do I fix this?
My 1996 toyota camry 4 dr sedan check engine light is on due to trouble codes p0115/p0340. How do I fix this problem. What parts do I have to purchased to fix the problem.

A: I have an 88 toyota pickup and had the same problem with the engine light. Try taking the positive battery cable off for a few seconds and then put it back on and see if that does the trick. Not too sure though, since it’s newer than mine.

Q: wat can i use to make my own side skirts for my 1996 toyota camry?
i recently bought a full body kit for my 1996 toyota camry 4 dr. but i think the side skirts look pretty ugly.. im on a low budget and i was wonder where i can buy the material to make my own at home?? n wat will i need? please help. thanks

A: Well….. Fiberglass is a fairly cheap material that a lot of Body Kits use.

But it requires you to make a mold then lay Mat down, then resin.

It’s very messy and something as large as a Side Skirt will cost a pretty good amount in Materials, plus the cost of the mold (that you’ll most likely destroy in the process.).

You might have to buy new ones you like better. It will probally be cheaper in the long run.

Q: I NEED HELP FINDING A CHEAP BODY KIT FOR MY 1996 TOYOTA CAMRY?
does anyone know where i can find a very cheap full body kit for my 1996 4 door toyota camry? i searched the internet for some but they were just over my budget. please help me!

A: Try JC Whitney Co, the might have them

Are you looking for a old school cars? Check out the Trusted Automotive Market Place LemonFree.com

Q: What is gas mileage like on old school cars?
I’m planning on getting a old school box chevy

A: It depends on what you call old school. Some of them got decent mpg (14-20), but some of them didn’t (3-9).
A lot of it depends on how they were geared and how you drive them.

Q: Why are some guys attracted to girls in old school cars?
I own a 1965 Ford Falcon and when I cruise around, some guys give me a head knod, ask my name, want my number or buy me a drink or whatever they have to offer. But when I drive my every day car. They dont seem to car one way or the other.

Is it true about boys and toys?

A: A women that appreciates old school cars is cool, likes one of the the things that most guys appreciate. She has class and was probably taught a few things about cars and men, not a “Barbie” type. She probably won’t send you to the poor house being high maintenance. Probably won’t get caught up chasing the Joneses. She knows what she likes, is fun to be with, and is self confident.

Too bad, I am already married.

Q: Can anyone tell me if there are any old school cars that are 6 cyilender engines?
Like I know some Chevy Nova’s and Ford Mustang’s, but is there any more?

A: almost every manufacturer made 6 cyl.

Q: How do they restore classic old school cars?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattgranz/1077931998/in/photostream/

do they just rip everything out and keep the body? repaint it, and put new engine and stuff?

A: First they start with a wad of cash.

Some of these restorations call for custom made engine and body parts. The cost can run over a million bucks.

Q: Do the old school cars run in diesel?
especially the muscle cars? I’m planning to buy one

A: No, muscle cars ran on high octane gasoline. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find high enough octane gasoline to run a real muscle car without it “pinging”. The old school muscle cars had a much higher compression ratio and the lower octane gasoline would “ping” or ignite before it was supposed to. Before you buy a muscle car, find out what octane rating is recommended for it and make sure it is available in your area.

For those taking notes: The term “pinging” is used by most everyone who works on cars, it is not “a high school term”. It is used by mechanics who have worked on cars for 20 years and it is used by 20 year olds. A 1965 Chevrolet 327 cid with 350 horse power had 11 to 1 compression ratio and ran best on gasoline with about 120 octane rating, which was available at Sunoco gas stations in the 60’s… I don’t think it is available at your local gas station now. A brand new Chevrolet “crate engine” has 9.1 to 1 compression ratio and has 350 cid and 330 horse power. The higher compression ratio made it possible for the engine to make more than one horse power per cubic inch. When the compression ration went down, it was no longer common for an engine to make more than one horse power per cubic inch. This space was supposed to answer the question if muscle cars ran on diesel, which I answered and gave a very brief note to find out what octane rating was needed for the particular car to be purchased and to find out if the gasoline was available in the area. If someone wants to answer a question, answer the question without trying to attack another answer, especially if the former answer is correct.

P.S. I set the World Drag Racing Record for E/Stock Formula 2 in my 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS with a 327/350.

Q: What is the website for auto trader old school cars?

A: http://www.hemmings.com/ You should find this site great for old school cars.Best of luck.

Q: Want to rebuilt cars old school cars /customize?
I been wanting to do this for a long time how do I go about doing it I have skill but no certi or college edu just high school grad I enjoy watching american hot rod and stuff like that,that the kind of stuff i’m into can somebody help me?

A: Well, what about trying to convince a company doing this type of work to employ you?

You might even offer to work two or three days free of charge to show your abilities…

Having more experience and some idea of the business, you might be able after two or three years to start an own company, who knows…?

Q: Where can i find nice old school cars in good shape for sell at im talking about like the year 1965-1979?

A: Auto trader makes a huge classified catalog for all classic cars. Just stop in at a gas station that carries magazines and it should be there. It’s a great one.

Q: Is driving an old school car manual transmission harder than newer cars?
When I say old school i mean 1950s-1970s. Is it harder to shift in an old school car then new car?My grandpa said all his cars back then were stick shifts and he said you needed to know a technique called “double clutch” in order to drive them. He said new cars today are made more efficient so shifting with the clutch is easier.

And if the shifting technique for older cars is different, in what ways do they differ?
I’m considering getting a 1968 Chevelle 4 speed and I just wanted to know how tough that would be compared to a modern shift stick now a days.
Thanks.
Thanks for the answers fellas.

A: My experience has been that it’s easier to shift in the older cars. Bigger engines meant more torque, and combined with low ratio 3 or 4 speed transmissions, made for a much larger margin of error when trying to shift.
Double clutching wasn’t necessary, but you could use it if you missed your first shift. Just rev the engine, let out the clutch slowly, and climb into second gear.
A much funner thing to do, especially if you were driving someone else’s car, was to speed shift. No clutch, just shift by ear. At certain RPM’s, the transmission can be shifted without engaging the clutch. Find that point, and you could shift through all the gears and be flying in no time. Miss the shift at speed, and you would destroy the transmission instantly. Either way, it was always good for an adrenaline rush.

Q: What are around 5 of the most legendary old school muscle cars?
Please put the year, make, and model. Thanks!

A: 1966 to 1970 Dodge Charger with the 392 Hemi / 413 Wedge head.
1970 Ford Mustang Boss 409
1969 Chevy Camaro 396
1970 Dodge Daytona Superbird /413 wedge
1970 Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird/ 413 Wedge
1966 Chevy Corvette / 396
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge/455 Wildcat Motor
1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442/ 442

Q: What are some old school cars, like the shelby GT500.?
That are cheap, well affordable, and can be suped up.

A: You wont find a GT 500 but that doesn’t mean you cant find a good deal on a cool car that will lend itself to modification. However you need to narrow your search to what you like, Chevy, ford, Pontiac…so on, you can find many good deals if your are patient. You can find mid 70s to late 80s Camaros for a good price and these cars (although smog regulated) can be modified allot. If you don’t mind four doors you can find cars that are in nice shape and V8s for fair prices too…don’t be narrow minded when it comes to a search, you wont find a ready to run GT500 or any other “muscle car” for 4 grand but you can find a used 66 mustang coupe with a small V8 or straight 6 for 4-5 grand if you look in the right places…..I recommend looking on eBay motors, under collector cars or Traderonline.com, there are tons of cars out there ripe for the picking…you just have to be creative.

Q: Wheres a good website to find old school cars for under 5k

A: There are a lot of police auction and government auction listings that sometimes show good deals on cars. Police auctions are held in every state and you can sometimes find great deals.

Q: where to buy calenders,posters,etc. of old school muscle cars..?
i love old school cars..
WHERE CAN I BUY THINGS THAT I CAN PUT IN MY ROOM FOR DECORATIONS..
I WANT SOME CALENDERS..
IS THERE A PLACE OR A GOOD WEBSITE WHERE THEY SELL LOTS OF PRODUCTS OF OLD SCHOOL CARS.

CHEVY,CHALLENGER,SHELBY GT500..ETC

A: eBay! eBay will have them, and cheap.

Q: Where’s the best place to buy old school cars, ones in decent shape?

A: The Barrett JAckson Auction………it is the best place…….if you’re loaded……otherwise there is the largest classic car auction & used parts flea market in north america just north of Toronto @ Burls Creek Family Event Park…..there is one held in the spring & one in the fall.

http://www.burlscreek.com/content.xjp?id=52

Q: Ideas of old school cars?
Hi i had a 19847 caprice classic 350 engine sold it for 800 cause i need a car with power. I was wonder if anyone could give me some ideas for a car i can buy the most of my budget is 1000. Like names of old school cars. Thank you BEST CAR IDEA GET BEST ANSWER

A: Wow your caprice is real old , i didn’t know they made them back in that year. ( 69 ) CAMARO , ( 66 ) MUSTANG , ( 68 ) FIREBIRD , etc. all good old cars

Q: What is the difference between a Jeep CJ7 and a Jeep Wrangler?
I am looking for a used Jeep Wrangler and my dad’s friend says he as a Jeep CJ7 for sale. I looked online and the CJ7 looks exactly like a Wrangler to me. Is there a difference or is it the same thing or what? Please help.

A: cj/7 s are older , there are alot of things that make them different, l;ike the size of them , where the turn lights are, the boxyness of the body, im not sure but i dont think they ever put fuel injection on the cj’s but dont qoute me on that, the tailgates are different, im trying to put a cj/7 tailgate on my yj, up until 97 the wrangler had square headlights, just alot of stuff like that, go with a wrangler, unless you arent to picky about the ride comfort. everyone knows jeeps arent the most comfortable ride but the cj’s are alot worse then the wrangler.

Q: 1981 Jeep CJ7 for sale????
How much do you think a 1981 Jeep CJ7 is worth in working condition? It runs, body and frame is in good shape. It is hooked up for off-roading. 35 inch all terrain tires, magnaflow muffler, etc…
I should add I tried the blue book but its too old. Its not in the book…

A: It depends on what you want it for, I guess. If you want just a dedicated trail rig and are going to run the hell out of it, I’d say don’t give more than $3000, probably less. It would depend on exactly what mods had been done, though. Keep this in mind; they don’t make vehicles like that anymore, and as nice as the newer Wranglers are they are NOT the same. I like to go on e-bay and see what similar vehicles are selling for. That will give you a true market price (i.e. what someone is actually willing to pay for it rather than what people are trying to sell it for–big difference). It’s hard to know without seeing it, but I’d say anywhere from $1500 (if it’s really rough) to $3000 would be fair. It’s very very dependent upon the condition.

Q: Jeep CJ7 for sale in south Georgia for under $3000?
(had to change question a little since nobody can do ANYTHING without SOMEBODY complaining)

So here is my ‘revised’ question details:

Where can I find an older model CJ7 or even a wrangler for sale in south Georgia for under $3000?

And why are jeeps priced so high?

AND… If you, by chance, happen to be selling one, would you please let me know? (<<< that IS a question, not an add)

Thanks to all for NOT complaining. It is VERY much appreciated.

(snitches, go do what you do best)

A: You can find one at any Junk yard, a jeep that is inoperable! No jeep will be under 3000 dollars.

Q: What is the stock engine in a Jeep cj7?
I need to know. I want one with a v8 and ive seen some with a v8 for sale and some with a v6 so i want to know what it comes with orignally.
thanks

A: The AMC 304 was the most offered and some AMC 360’s also. The “in-line” L6 AMC 258 was the only 6 offered in the CJ-7 but back in the CJ-5 era there were also Buick V-6’s. I’m not sure the AMC 401 ever came in the CJ-7s but they were plentiful in the FSJ Wagoners and will bolt in place of the AMC straight 6 or 304/360 engine. The 401 is the most power-full engine ever offered in their lineup.

Q: Need help with Jeeps?
I am going to be looking into buying an older jeep for restoration and need some help.

I really like the CJ5 and CJ7 models, but I knwo my parents have a ‘75 CJ5 and are finding it nearly impossible to get worked on. So I was thinking maybe an early ’80’s CJ7, does anyone have any idea of when they introduced power steering and which year models have compatible engines with ones made today? I dont want to end up buying something then having to drop and brand new engine in it.

Or can someone provide me with the specs and options for the 1981 and 1986 CJ7 models? I have been looking online, but I cant find the original specs, all i can find is the things for sale and parts for sale.

A: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_CJ#CJ-7

The 258 (4.2ltr) was available in the YJ until 91.. but after that the 4.0 ltr was a fairly similar engine and the head and fuel injection are a common swap.

As far as the CJ 7 goes.. The 86 is the more desirable year due to the Dana 44 rear axle. As far as trans the T176 4 speed manual is decent, The T4 (4 speed) or T5 (5 speed) are ok, but replacement is advised. The dana 300 tcase is the one you want and is a common swap to other rigs and there is aftermarket support for them too.

Q: f150??????????????
how many mpgs does it get???????

A: i had a 2004 5.4 liter 4×4 super cab and it got about 8-9 around town and 12-14 on the highway.

Q: What should i do to my 1993 f150 to increase my torque and horsepower?
I am fixing up my 1993 f150 and i have basically done all i want to besides what i want to do under the hood. Any ideas appreciated.

A: Since its a 93 there is no carb unless you converted it over to carb. put on a bigger throttle body (around $200), shorty headers (around $150), take off that crappy clutch fan and put on a electric fan (around $200-$500 somtimes more if you want dual fans and then a harness is less than $50) those right there will give you more power and torque this should get you started and will improve your mpg also

Q: 1999 Ford F150 Truck- I replaced the connectors on the battery cables and now it shorts?
I had to cut off the connectors for the battery terminals. I put on generic connectors. Now the battery connection often seems to short out. I bang around on the terminals and the connection comes back to life and the truck starts, but its getting old!
It seems hard to change the battery cables out on a Ford F150 so how do I do a proper connector installation to avoid my problem?

A: sounds like you didn’t get a good connection at the point where the cable go’s into the terminal where the 2 bolts are at. take it apart and clean it really good then put it all back together and clean the battery lugs and inside the new terminals as well with a battery brush. before you put it back together. Make sure the two bolts on the connection are tight.

Q: What would cause a f150 truck to shake in the rear?
i have a 1997 f150 stepside. I was ran off the road, and i hit a hill and my truck came down and hit the ground pretty hard. ever since, ive had a bad shake in the rear of the truck.I do know the rear leaf springs are bent, but im not convinced thats causing the problem. I’ve replaced the drive shaft, tested the axle, and swapped the tires out, anyone have anymore ideas of what might be causing it?

A: Bad or loose shock absorbers.

Q: What is the difference between a ford F150 supercrew and a ford F150 supercab?
I would like to buy some cover seats for my Ford F150 supercrew but I only find cover seats for a supercab . I would like to Know if there is difference between these trucks

A: The SuperCrew has four full-size forward-opening doors, with a full-size rear bench seat; the Super Cab has rear quarter-doors that open in reverse, with a smaller rear bench seat.

If you are buying seat covers only for the front seats, the difference between a SuperCrew and a Super Cab will not matter, since only the rear seats will be different.

You will want to know, however, if the front seats in your F-150 are bucket seats (more common on FX4, Lariat, Harley, and King Ranch) with the console shifter, or a bench seat with the shifter on the column and a flip down center arm rest/console. This may make a difference when buying front seat covers.

Q: What fairly inexpensive modifications can I do to my 04 F150?
I have a 04 F150 supercab with the lariat package. The truck is really nice already but I want to do some aftermarket things to make it even better. I am planning on putting in a cold air intake in it, as well as a new grill. Eventually I wanna put some new wheels on it but for the right price. Any ideas you have are greatly appreciated.

A: Try an exhaust system which depending on how much performance you can vary greatly in price. The cheapest would be to get dual straight pipes which make the truck look good and sound even better.

Q: How many miles will a ford f150 last before breaking down?
I am interested in buying a ford f150 around 2005. With good maintenance how many miles will this model with last me before breaking down or needing serious work done?

A: “With good maintenance” is the key here. I have a ‘99 F150 (5.4L Triton) with 207K that looks and runs fine, is as dependable as new, and can be driven anywhere, anytime. I perform scheduled maintenance per the manual, fix the “little things” as they come up, and keep the truck clean inside and out. I don’t intend on replacing it anytime soon. I have no doubt it can reach 300K without any major problems.

On the other hand, I’ve seen vehicles that were maintained poorly or not at all that were essentially toast after 30K and a couple of years.

Ford trucks are durable and dependable – they’ve led the market for more than 30 years with good reason. There are a boatload of ’05s to choose from; look for a well-maintained, adult-driven truck, preferably with good service records available for your review. Within reason, odometer mileage is less important on a used truck than on a car.

Good luck!

Q: How many watts does a stock 2004 f150 head unit produce?
Does anyone know how many watts the front door speakers receive from a stock 6 disk changer in a Ford F150?
I’m hooking up some tweeters and they give a couple of different ways to wire them depending on how many watts they are going to receive.

A: Most stock factory radio’s are around 15-20 WPC RMS. Not much. Why do you ask?

Q: How do I losen sepintine belt to remove my alternator on my 2004 f150?
How do I loosen sepintine belt to remove my alternator on my 2004 f150? I have to change my alternator and can’t figure out how to loosen the belt. Is there a special tool I need?

A: There is a spring tensioner that has a place for a wrench or socket so you can move it up and remove the belt. See owners manual.

Q: How much would it cost to paint the whole body of a 1996 f150 black?
How much would it cost to paint the whole body of a 1996 f150 black
Well the truck really doesnt need any bodywork. I just want a touch up. Whats the cheapest paint available?

A: It varies from location to location, and from vendor to vendor. Shop around, and get some detailed extimates. They will because of the body-work, prep work the painter includes in the estimate.

Q: Where is the PSOM located on a Ford F150 and how do you replace it?
I need instructions for locating and replacing the PSOM (Programmable Speedometer Odometer Module) on a 1995 Ford F150. If someone could walk me through it I would really appreciate it.
Can you tell me where it is located?

A: It would be very hard to ”walk” you through it….you should get a manual from one of the parts stores.

Q: Wanting to make f150 magnaflow exhaust sound a little better and louder?
I have a 2004 ford f150 5.4L with magnaflow exhaust. I’m looking for something to make it sound better and a little louder too thats pretty inexpensive.

A: install electric exhaust cutouts

http://www.racereadyperformance.com/products.php?section=Products

for really loud install them after the headers, before the cats (dump the exhaust straight from the engine)…..for little less but still loud install them after the cats, before the mufflers.

they operate from inside the truck….flick of the switch-loud, flick of the switch quiet (and legal)

cheers, 04 cobra

Q: How much would it cost to paint hood on F150 Lightining?
Cost of sanding and painting hood of f150 lightning. If you have experienced this or just have knowledge of, your help is greatly appriciated. Thank you.

A: 420 dollars

Q: What is the general labor cost on a 1999 F150 Head gasket replacement?
I am working on a 1999 F150 5.4 liter Triton motor. I am replacing the head gaskets. How much is the labor cost on this job if you go to a repair shop?

A: It’s booked at 8 hours labor…so 8 times the going mechanics rate.

Q: How much would someone charge for 4 new Ford F150 factory tires and rims?
I have brand new Ford F150 factory tires with rims 17 inch, how much should I charge for all four?

A: $650.
$500 if you want a quicker sale.

Q: Where can I find a 1998 Nissan 240sx for sale near new Orleans?
I’m looking for a 1998 Nissan 240sx in good condition. I’m graduating in may and want to use my grad money on it but I can’t find one so if anyone knows of one near new Orleans la please tell me where and how much

A: http://neworleans.craigslist.org/search/cta?query=240sx&catAbbreviation=cta&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max

Q: Nissan 240sx Drift Cars – How Much To Buy Nissan 240sx For Sale?
Auction prices, import listings & private dealership prices for the Nissan drift car.

A: Indicative price range for Nissan 240SX drift cars (used cars):
* 1994 Nissan 240SX ==> $1,900 to $4,050
* 1995 Nissan 240SX ==> $1,225 to $4,100
* 1996 Nissan 240SX ==> $1,000 to $4,175
* 1997 Nissan 240SX ==> $1,500 to $5,925
* 1998 Nissan 240SX ==> $2,150 to $6,500

Nissan drift cars are popular in US, Canada & Australia — specially the southern US states (Texas, Tennessee) and Toronto / British Columbia.

Q: Anyone has a nissan 240sx for sale in Houston?
I would like to know the price, year and transmission, also its history.

A: try using www.autotrader.com to see if there’s any cars that youre looking for in a specific area. I really helped me out.

Q: Does anyone have a 89-96′ Nissan 240sx for sale under $1000?

A: craigslist.com is your best bet

Q: Nissan Silvia s15 / 240sx – How Much To Buy A Used Nissan Silvia 240sx s15 For Sale?
Looking for some indicative price listings of used Japanese cars (specifically the Nissan 240sx)

A: S13, S14, S15, S16 are the different chassis types on a Nissan Silvia 240sx. Used car prices are based on model year & mileage run, though Japanese cars are built to last across multiple owners. Indicatively, these are some price estimates on popular Nissan s15, s14 models:

• 1994 Nissan Silvia E-S14, 87000 km ($4,877)
• 1997 Nissan Silvia E-S14, 66400 km ($9,902)
• 1998 Nissan Silvia E-S14, 67000 km ($9,569)

• 2000 Nissan Silvia GF-S15, 78000 km ($11,361)
• 2001 Nissan Silvia GF-S15, 93000 km ($7,130)
• 2002 Nissan Silvia GF-S15, 64000 km ($10,382)

Q: Is this a good deal on this Nissan 240sx?
1989 Nissan 240SX coupe for sale for $1,500 the only thing wrong is it needs a paint job and maybe a front bumper. No rust on the body and My friend and I are upgrading the KA engine in it.

A: It’s going to depend on a few different things. What condition is the engine in, how many miles on the clock, are the seat bolsters torn, coupe or hatch…

If it’s a hatch, be aware that if it has a spoiler on the back, that most likely you have some huge rust holes. The spoiler tends to absorb water and causes rust to form underneath it where you can’t see.

If it’s a coupe, it could have a sunroof and HUD display. Check that these are in good working order, as well.

I wouldn’t pay anymore than $1000 unless it was super low milage, super clean, and well taken care of with documents supporting that it was given proper maintenence when needed.

Also, don’t waste your time upgrading the KA single cam motor. Spend the money on a good condition twin cam engine with ECU and wiring harness and call it good.

The single cam is a good motor, but finding replacement parts for it is a bit of a pain. The aftermarket has more support for the twin cams.

Q: Does anybody have a nissan 240sx hatchback 1986/ 1994 that works for sale in the state of Fl?

A: I’ve found that ebay motors is the best place to look for a used car that specific. I bought my van that way, and I was very happy with the entire transaction.

Q: nissan 240sx?
i saw one for sale with 152,000 miles on the engine and 170,000 on the body. the guy said the old motor had a rod knock and he changed it out with the different one. he’s selling for $2000 is that a good price? no bad rust anywhere. only rust starting to show. is this a good deal?

the year is a 1993

.

A: You should ask him how does the car handle high speeds about 100mph. Find out how he had driven the car because keep in mind that nissan 240sx are extremely good DRIFTING cars. Drifting is bad on the car. It might be a good buy with 152,000 miles on it. Find out if it runs ok. Small rust is fixable and u can do alot when turning that car into a high peformance car. Also nissan 240sx are hard to find. see if u can talk him down alittle with the price. For 2,000 dollars u can take a chance. sounds like a good buy.

Q: Nissan 240SX and KA24 T?
ok i know this isn’t an engine switch, kind of made me mad when i found out its just a turbo add on or what ever. so i did some research and found out things about the original engine of a 1996 nissan 240sx and i found out that with this engine add on i would maybe need to do some tune-ups on the engine. i found a 240sx for sale for like 2K with 192k miles.would getting new parts for the top and bottom end make this engine stable enough to add some power to it?

A: If were going to turbo the KA then don’t use the original engine. Find a lower mileage KA then that would be suitable to turbocharge. If you can’t find a lower mileage KA, then I rebuilding the KA engine would be the way to go. I would personally not do that at all and swap in a SR engine. It’s not a complicated job because it’s the engine they use in Japan so it will bolt right up in your car. Plus it’s already turbocharged so if you wanted more power you would just have to get a bolt on kit.

Q: where can i buy a 5 speed transmission for my 93 nissan 240sx?
i have an auto trannie and want to swap in a 5 speed. does anyone know where to find them cheap, or have one for sale? i looked on ebay/craigslist but didnt find any.

marc

A: First off, you are looking at a lot more than just changing the tranny. You will need a new pedal hanger and assembley, hydraulic master cylander and slave cyl, lines, and worst of all, a new ECU. There are a number of suppliers of Japanese salvage motor and tranny suppliers. For all the work you are in for to make this work, you will be better off selling the auto trans car and buying a 5spd car, then put your money into a new clutch, sway bars, shocks, springs and wheels. Look a bit deeper into the project before you start.

Q: need help with my 95 nissan 240sx?
i bought a 95 240sx SE with front end collision. i need to get a new left and right fender rail and front radiator support. i spend 2,000 to get the car and bought parts and paid registration fees for it, which comes to a total of 2,900. i got many parts from my friends because they wreck their cars, but someone stole many of those parts. i need advice on what i should do? keep it and continue my project or sell the car for 2,400 obo?

need additional info help: i found some bumpers for sale, but they are called “bumper covers”, i need to know if bumper covers are just bumpers.

thanks everyone to helping.

A: A bumper cover is only the colored plastic outer face of the bumper that you see. Inside a modern bumper can be a number of components, but most often they consist of the bumper cover, styrofoam impact absorber, aluminum impact bar and bracketry to mount everything. Since the frame pieces are critical to the whole car going back together straight, I would buy them new from a Nissan dealer. Good luck with your project!

Q: Found A Salvage Vehicle For Sale: Need Advice?
I’ve found a 1997 Nissan 240SX online about one week ago. It has 64K, and every option available, including factory LSD. I called the person who was selling and he stated that it was a rebuilt salvage vehicle that has already underwent NYS testing for road-worthiness and passed. The man who was selling was a dealer and claimed that the car suffered quarter panel damage. I know from personal experience that QP damage is VERY expensive to repair for even small dents. The dealer posted photos of where the fixed damage occured and you can see that the panel was repaired, not replaced.
I really like the car and would like to buy it, but the salavge is holding me back. I spoke to a mech. friend of mine and he said it wasn’t worth it, but I’m still interested in it since I have seen others (in the internet) have good luck w/ salvage cars. The dealer claims no mech. problems and the body is straight, and even encourages me to get it checked out by a mech. and body shop. What to do?
Why should I not buy it? Provide a reason why I shouldn’t. It depends largely on the type of damage incurred. The car can be registered now without a problem. I know I’m taking a risk, but that is why I came to Yahoo for advice. What are your experiences? Did you have the car checked out before you bought it?
The only thing is that there are plenty of cars on the road that are damaged and have never been reported. CarFax is not surefire as to if a car has been in an accident or not. It will only be on CarFax if it was reported to insurance. Buying a used car in general is a gamble. Regarding getting it checked out, the car according to the dealer has been checked by the NYS Dept. that deals with salvage vehicles and passed.

A: Don’t let you heart lead your brain in a big purchase.
It might be a great car for the money, but there is a good reason for that… salvage means it was totaled and put back together!
Salvage vehicles are risky, run away and don’t look back. Buy a solid car that checks out, ask a dealer for a Carfax report before you buy – which will tell you the cars complete mechanical history.

Q: Hello yahoo crew, im looking for a rwd 1.6 cheap car.. like a nissan 180sx.. but there isnt any on ebay…?
Hello yahoo person, im looking for a 1.6 rwd car thats tune-able but also cheap , interested in a nissan 240sx or 180sx , let me know whats availible or if you have 1 for sale. thanks

Q: What is the market price of a used honda civic LX 06?
What is the market price of a used honda civic LX 06? I know Kelly Blue Book is one way to check it, but is there other ways?
Anyone bought a used honda before and can give me some ideas?
Btw, is KBB accrate enough? Coz based on my research, KBB seems to have overstated the value of cars.
Any opinion would be appreciated! Thank you!

A: where did you do research on kbb?

Q: Where can I find a used Honda Sabre in the western Fl panhandle?
I’d done all the usual searchs on the internet, so I thought I’d ask you guys. Does anyone know where I can find a used Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 within 200 miles of Pensacola?

A: http://www.cycletrader.com/

Q: What is the best model for a used Honda Civic?
I am interested in getting a Honda Civic coupe. I was wondering what is the best model and year for the honda civic? I want it to be used since this is my first car. I was thinking about getting a 1999-2005 civic.

A: man i would tell you the Em1 or Ek’s parts are cheaper , if your wanting to modify is also cheaper then the Ep3’s and the F’s .. i would recommend an Em1 (Si) , hard to find but if you cant find you you can always go with an ek (lx)..as what year you choose comes the pros and cons, pros–cheaper parts , easier work, cheaper labor, cons, attracts more attentions to thieves , easier to steal if a good alarm system is not invested on it, there is so many things you wanna consider. i own an Em1 thats street tuned, and very well taken care of and its theft proof .. you can take it as far as you want

Q: How much do used Honda Odyssey minivans go for nowadays?
I want to buy a used Honda Odyssey fairly soon. I wonder if they went down in price at all. I live in AZ Anyone knows? Give me more options not just the dealerships.

A: the prices of Honda & Toyota minivans remain high.

even the used ones are bringing top dollar.

it “almost” makes it a better deal to buy a new one rather a used one.

2008 Honda Odyssey
Kelley Blue Book Price:$21,500 – $27,000

Q: Can you buy an extended warranty on a used Honda Accord Hybrid?
I am thinking about buying an ‘05 used Accord Hybrid from an individual seller. It has 58,000 miles and seems to be in great condition.

My question is, can I buy an extended warranty through Honda that will help cover future expensive maintenance problems related to the electric motor, particularly the battery pack that I have heard is so expensive? I want to buy the car, but the maintenance costs terrify me.

Thanks!

A: if honda won’t sell you a warranty another fly by night company will, I think I would be a little afraid of buying that car, why is that guy selling it with gas prices so high?

Q: How do I maintain a used 97 Honda Civic?
I just purchased a used certified Honda civic from the Honda dealership in Atlanta, Georgia. I am moving to New York and just have basic questions on how to maintain a used Honda so that it can last a couple of years longer.

Thanks in advance

A: http://www.hondabeat.com/maintenance.php

Q: I am looking to buy used Honda Accord DX with 94 K mileage on it.Is it good deal?
I am looking to buy used Honda Accord DX Yr-96 with 94 K mileage on it.Is it good deal?Person who is selling says it’s first 9 yrs was maintained by dealer.I didn’t see this car in person yet but saw pictures and in it looks clean and nice conditon.He is asking for 3400 dollars.Should I proceed and buy this car or I am paying too much for this car?

A: Check KBB… for a car this old, with this many miles, better look at it first… it could have been under water in New Orleans for all you know!

Q: where do I find a used honda spoon engine?
I am looking to get a honda spoon engine for my 1995 honda civic hatch, and would like to find a used one hoping to be cheaper. Where do i get one?

A: do u know waht the difference is between a “spoon engine” and a regular one? its a stock JDM engine thats been blue printed and have a spoon head gasket…thats it. a b18c1 spoon goes for $6k, has less than $2k worth of parts, and about $2000 in labor…the other $2k are in the “spoon” name.

Q: Where to find a Used Honda Element in Philadelphia?
Does anyone have any recommendations on places to visit around Philadelphia (within 60 miles) for a used Honda Element (any year)? I’m looking to spend under $10,000 for one. Any ideas?
I mean besides actual dealers. I was looking for suggestions on local Used-car dealerships, rather than Honda dealers.

A: The last place I would look for any car is at a used car dealer. Check ebay and Craig’s List for Element listings from private owners. Also check the Trading Post forum at http://www.elementownersclub.com and sign up and post an inquiry in the Mid-Atlantic chapter forum. The EOC is a very active and friendly site.

Q: Will honda let me terminate my lease is I finance a certified used car instead?
I have a 09 civic whose lease is up in January 2012. Instead of throwing another 5K away in a lease I rather give back my leased car and finance a certified used Honda. Will they let me do this?

A: Not without paying the early termination fees that come with all leases.

Q: Is Buying a Used Honda CR-V a good deal in the Gulf?
I am planning to buy a Used Honda CR-V (may be a 1999-2001) model. Is it worth buying it, if so what should I make sure about the vehicle and how much should I quote?

A: No it’s not. RAV4’s have more power and get better gas mileage and features the CR-V doesn’t even have. The RAV4 has an available V6 which blows the doors off the CR-V. Toyotas are also more reliable than Hondas are. The latest Car & Driver magazine has the new RAV4 as the best small sport utilitiy vehicle, and it has been for the past 5 years. Toyota created this small SUV segment in the first place, and Honda followed some time later. And, it is also available with a third row seat, which the CR-V doesn’t even offer. Consumer Reports has listed its top picks for this year, and the RAV4 is its top pick in the small SUV category. It’s so obvious that the RAV4 is the better choice.

Q: i am getting 2003 used honda civic LX 50K miles for 12k.is it good deal?is ABS must for michigan snow driving?
i am getting this used honda civic LX 2003 in good condition with arnd 50k miles on it for 12,340$ incl taxes,title etc. however,it does not have ABS.is ABS a must for snow driving in Michigan?is this deal good enough?

A: If you are willing to spend 12k for a used car you might as well spend a little more for a new car with the things you are looking for.

Q: Where can i buy a used honda civic in los angeles?
Im looking to buy my first used car and have a price range of anywhere from $100- $1000….preferably a black honda civic lx.

A: find them on www.autoweb.com
www.ebay.com
www.yahoo.com
www.google.com

Q: Where is a reliable place to get a used Honda accord besides the Honda dealer for under $7,000?
please say if you have bought a used honda from the dealer you recommend.
the names of dealers would be helpful.

A: Personally I would take that money and buy a domestic and get a car with about half the miles and more equipment. Otherwise expect to get a high mileage car that will be a question when it comes to reliability. You will more than likely find you best deal through a private owner.

Q: Is it necessary to use Honda Transmission fluid, or can a regular one be used?
Just wondering if my transmission will be ruined if I use a different type of transmission fluid, instead of the Honda transmission fluid.

A: The type of fluid is more critical than the brand. You cannot mix types. Look in the owners manual and it will give the specification of the fluid. You can use any fluid brand of that specification.

Q: How much horsepower does a 1966 Ford Mustang have?
I am looking into buying a 1966 Ford Mustang from my friend and I was just wondering how much horsepower it was. I asked my friend but he didn’t know. I could probally find it somewhere. But this is easyer. It is a 1966, coupe, 6 cylinder, automatic transmission, Ford Mustang. It is not a Shelby Mustang. Just a standard Mustang. It needs a little work, but the engine is fine. All orignal parts. Thank you!

Q: What is the mpg rating on a stock 1966 Ford Mustang V8?
How many miles per gallon would a stock 1966 Ford Mustang 289ci V8 get? (assuming it is in normal, working conditions, all around)

How reliable would one of these be if regularly maintained?
How good it the 289 V8 engine?

A: well ive owned close to a dozen of these a stock 2 bbl auto should get 14-16 city and 18-22 if it tuned up and running right
hp ratings as follows c-289 2v=200 hp a-289 4v=225 k-4v-271 letter represents code for engine i have personally had a k-code hp 289 and would get 12-14 in town and 16-18 highway now this is normal driving put your foot in it expect less other than a tune up never had any problems think 5.0 or 302 reliable as the day is long 289 is faster revving than the 302 and parts can interchange only real difference is crankshaft i have built many engines using parts from both engines although pre-65 used a different belhousing pattern and you have to use the harmonic balancer and pulleys with the crankshaft it came with
good luck one final note these cars had problematic front suspension so i would advise bracing the shock towers shelby-izing the upper control arms and using an export brace granada brakes will interchange on front giving you inexpensive disc brakes check mustang monthly website for more

Q: How to start restoring a 1966 Ford Mustang?
Okay, I have gottan a 1966 Ford Mustang for pretty much free, how do I go about restoring it. What do I do first. The floor pans are completley rusted through, it needs a rear drivetrain and axel, the engine is shot. Rusted pretty bad. How much would a rough estimate of a total cost be? Is it worth it? Please any help will be greatly apprecitated. Also it has a v-8 289ci engine with automatic tranny, good or bad?

Get started and spend money

If you have a standard coupe, it may not be worth your money as you can get good rolling examples for a couple of grand. You would spend that, and more, to get your sheet metal in order. A hidden source of rust is in the cowl area, you need to tear that apart too — not for a backyard mechanic.

The amount of money you spend is limited by your pocketbook and resources but you will never really be done.
What you spend depends on your own talent and resources to get things done on trade/cheap. It will be in the 5-digit price range regardless of what you can do.

Q: What should I ask for a 302 long block automatic 1966 Ford Mustang V8 coupe needing to be restored?
I’m looking at a 1966 Ford Mustang coupe. It is an automatic transmission, and should be a 302 long block V8 engine.

All parts should be original, but I am not positive.

I was originally told it was a 289, but now he says it has a 302 long block engine with about 175k miles on it.

It is a California car, so there shouldn’t be any rust, although I have not inspected it. It apparently has not been run in about 20 years. I was told that an electrical problem prevented it from starting, and it’s just been in storage since then.

The engine and transmission SHOULD be functional but I can’t be sure that everything works properly. It will likely need a completely new interior, and windshields, the engine probably needs to be rebuilt, and everything drained, since it’s full of 20 year old gas. The dash is supposedly shattered from a rock through the back windshield.

It does not have AC, and has been repainted a pale yellow color long ago, over the gray…

I know nothing about these cars.
Just to clarify, I am looking into buying this car and not selling it.

This is a follow up on another question I asked yesterday.

Like I said, I don’t really know much about these mustangs, so I may have said incorrect things, but I did my best.

Anything helps, thank you!!
I have not been able to acquire the VIN yet, so can someone tell me what it is worth by what I described?
——————————-
~~~ UPDATE
——————————-
The VIN number, or whatever it is on these older cars is 6r07c186121 , so the engine is type C meaning its a V8 200hp?
Heres what I found from it:
Year: 6 1966
Plant: R San Jose, CA
Body Series:072 Door Hardtop
Engine: C289 2v V8
Unit: 186121 186121
I said the engine is a 302 long block, but I don’t think that is an actual engine, like I said I don’t know what what I’m talking about. The owner stated that engine pieces were replaced by newer 302 long block parts – hopefully I’m making sense…
—————————–
——————————-
A: [Revised]
Plus options would be V8, C code 200 hp, A code 225 hp, K code 271 hp HiPerformance motor, automatic transmission, 4 speed manual, AC, PS, PB, Disc Brakes, GT package, Pony interior, Console, Bench front seat, Rally Pac, Vinyl top, Luggage or ski rack
Minus would be the
High mileage and 20 years of storage means lots of work. You will need to completely clean and or replace the fuel system, tank lines, pump and carb.
 The brakes will need the same thing, so you are looking at a lot of money.
Prices start out at $2500 for running examples that need work and have some rust, to $15k for a restored one with some options.
This would put yours at less than $2000, without seeing it, I would say offer him $1250, it’s going to need a lot of work to just get it running and then a slow process to restore it. Good luck with it..
The first number in the vin code is the year, the last letter is the engine code, these can be found on a plate on drivers door and on the top of the fender drivers side.
Q: Should I get a 1966 Ford Mustang for a first car?
I have recently found a 1966 Ford Mustang which I am in love with. It is in great condition, but I’m not a car person and I only know so much about this car from the research I have done. Would this be a safe and good first car?
A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net
Q: Does a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible have a CD player?
I’m am looking to buy a used 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible in the next 3 years and was wondering if it can live up to my music needs. If it doesn’t have a CD player, is it possible to install one? If so, about how much will it cost me? All possible answers are wanted. Thanks!
A: As mentioned, the ‘66 Mustang didn’t have a CD player available, CD’s weren’t around then. You can have an aftermarket stereo installed, including a trunk mounted CD changer, without cutting up the dash. Check out Mustang parts places such as National Parts Deports or Mustangs Plus. They will have all the stuff you need. A good system for one of these will run you from about $200-$800, depending on the stereo and options you choose.
Q: What should I ask for a 1966 Ford Mustang which is in need of a restoration? It is a 289 automatic coupe.?
I am looking at a ‘66 Ford Mustang, a automatic 289 coupe. I really need a pricing guide like a checklist. I would like to know what makes it more valuable and what makes it less valuable. It would be great if someone could provide a checklist for all options of the car, for example if it’s a V6 or a V8, because I’m not sure, or if there are certain aspects which need restoration, like rust, or cosmetic issues. The owner is reluctant to take the time to do the research, so I gave up on asking hopelessly for 6 months – and go ahead and do it for him. It does not run, and he says it needs to be restored. It will definitely need a new paint job, and likely some cosmetic work if not a lot. I dont know anything more than you know at this point. I’m not even 100% positive it is a 1966, but anything you can tell me helps, thanks.
What I know at this point is it hasn’t been run in 20 years, I don’t know why yet. It has been sitting in a garage under boxes, so we’ll see about any rust. It should have all original parts but I will confirm that too. I’m not sure, but isn’t rust supposed to be less of a problem here in California? Unfortunately, my pockets are anything but deep, so I’m not sure how well this will go but… I will find out and update later today hopefully about everything, like original parts, miles, reason for not running 20 years ago, rust and body condition, AC, make sure it is a V8, and a 1966 model for that matter, and get the VIN number, or other ID numbers I can find. Thanks for your help so far!
A: Coupes are not the gold mine that fastbacks are. Just picked up a Mustang Milestones from Mustang and Ford trader and there are many factors to consider. They range from 27k to 4.5k. If you have resto to do I’d say that around 5-8k would be fair if the person buying it considers it a 20 footer. As in it looks good from that far away. Of course that depends on what is under the hood. An 8 is always worth more than a 6. Post a different question with what your car has and I’ll be able to tell you better what its worth.
Q: Why is my 1966 Ford Mustang running hot?
I have a 1966 Ford Mustang. It has a 289 and a 4 speed manual transmission. This car does fine on the open road but tends to run a little hot in the city despite having put a larger radiator in it. A friend mentioned removing the thermostat to allow water to run freely into the engine. Hopefully I can get confirmation that this would work or more alternatives.
A: Hunter,
When you put the larger radiator in it did you put the larger fan on the engine as well? If not, you are not matching the amount of air flow through the radiator that is needed for city stop and go driving.
You can remove the thermostat, but it really is not going to help as this is an air flow issue. Removing the thermostat will only allow the radiator to instantly start circulating coolant through the engine block. Which also reduces your heaters efficiency in the winter time.
To ultimately fix the problem you will need to put the larger fan in to match the larger radiator you have in it now. Make sure you also have the fan shrouds in place that direct air flow and your fan matches these proportionately.
The only other possible issue I could see you having would be with the fan itself. Your fan has a viscous clutch on the back of it. If it is going bad the fan is not spinning like it should to keep air flow maintained at lower speeds. It should turn by hand but stop turning when you remove your hand.
Alot of hot rodders remove the fan clutches and go with flexing direct mount fans instead. It reduces horse power drag and increases air flow.
Q: Where can i find a Drum to Disc brake conversion kit for my 1966 Ford Mustang?
i have a 1966 Ford Mustang with a 302 and a automatic transmission with 10inch Drum Brakes all around and i want to convert it to Discs in the Front and keep the Drums in the rear my question is where can i find a COMPLETE conversion kit for this car $1000 is the limit thanks
A: several members in our group have done this, ask them at
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/classicmustang/
Q: Is a 1967 ford mustang hardtop roof compatible with a 1966 ford mustang?
I have a 1967 ford mustang and all I need now to finally be done with restoring it is the hardtop, so one of my boys has a old 1966 ford mustang laying in his yard and he was willing to cut the the hardtop off of it and give it to me so I can finish my “1967 ford mustang”. appreciate the help thank you……(had to be very specific)
A: There’s too many variables in order to get the 66 to fit. Width, length, rear sails, window curvature, etc
This is not a good idea. Better to shop outside to other venues/towns to solve your problem.
Q: How much did a ford mustang 1966 shelby cost in the 1970’s?
How much did a Ford Mustang 1966 shelby cost in the 1970’s?
pleaze!
A: under $5k…acually in the 70’s it was a used muscle car at the time of the first gas shortage, Ford was selling Pinto’s like hotcakes and you couldn’t give away a used muscle car…So the last of the Shelby’s sat on the dealers lots for sometimes a year.. and you could buy a used 66 Shelby for under $2500! If I had only known..
Q: i have a 1966 ford mustang, and acceleration dips up and down when going up hills. any suggestions? ?
Hey guys, so, just to reiterate,
i drive a 1966 mustang, its a 289 v8, automatic. everything is running fine, except for when i go up hills. it seems like the acceleration “dips” a bit, almost as if its not getting enough fuel or something. I don’t think its leaking anything, and I’ve checked the fluids, everything is topped up.
any suggestions? Thanks!!!
A: hahahahah, someone told you to check your dirty fuel injectors or your faulty transmission!!!
umm guess what guys, this old boy’s got a carburetor and an old 3 speed auto! no electronics here fellas
anyway, you problem sounds like a carb float problem.
A carburetor’s floats are designed to control the amount of fuel held in the bowls that is available to be pulled through the metering blocks. The carburetor jets should always be covered, but you don’t want too much fuel in the bowls so that it sloshes out and into the vent tubes. If the floats are set too low, the fuel reserve in the bowls will be too small and increase the opportunity for the jets to become uncovered and the engine to run lean. If the floats are set too high, excessive fuel can slosh out of the bowls and into the vent tubes causing the engine to stumble. On the classic Holley carburetor, the accepted method for setting the float level is to run the engine until everything is warm, and with the engine at idle, unscrew the plugs in the sight windows for the float bowls. Raise the float just until fuel begins to escape from the window, then lower the float back down a bit and lock everything in place.
when you go over the hill, your float may be too low, allowing the jets to be uncovered, or too high, allowing the fuel to slosh out… check your float level!
Q: How much is a 1966 Ford Mustang worth?
I own a 1966 Ford Mustang, and I was wondering how much I could sell it for. It has no rusting at all, everything is original, except for the tires, paint job, vinyl top and carburetor.
It’s an original GT that has it’s rally pack.
And here’s a picture of it (bad quality cause it was taken on a camera phone)
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y108/foamsinmouth/042907_1302b.jpg?t=1182477053
And don’t tell my to use Kelly’s Blue Book, because the year doesn’t go down to 1966.
Okay here’s more information, the mileage is only 75,000. The interior is pretty good, the only thing is there’s a rip on the driver’s seat on the bottom part, but all the other seats are in good condition.
A: Everything isn’t original if you have a new paint job, vinyl top and carb. Original means its never been restored and the paint, top and interior plus mechanics are untouched.
Heck with the Kelly Blue Book. If you had it painted the correct color and they did a great job and you want the money it’s worth take it to an antique classic car appraiser. From that you will get a good market price and find the correct place to sell your car.
Try EBAY for collector cars and also Hemmings Motor News which you will find in a book store. It’s worth a lot of money to the right collector, it’s just finding the person with the money. Looks like a good car.
Q: How do you install a steering column in a 1966 Ford Mustang?
I was rebuilding a 1966 Mustand and when I put the column in and started turning the wheel right it would tighten and when I turned it to the left it would be like it was “unwinding” what could I have done wrong?
A: you need a repair manual, it will tell you the do’s and don’ts,
this group will be a lot of help
Q: 1965 1966 Ford Mustang is the rear pony seat the same size in a convertible and coupe ?
will they both work for the seat frame and are they the same size ? for the Coupe and Conv. ? it also go’s for a 66 mustang
A: not they’re not, the convertible is smaller to make room for the top mechanism…
Q: I own a red 2000 Dodge Neon. I bought it brand new but through the years I have noticed the back bumper fading
I have noticed through out the years everytime I see a red 2000 Dodge Neon every bumper has faded just like mine. Has anyone else noticed this or own one with this problem? I have only noticed it in the “Red” 2000 neons only.
A: yes i have seen a lot of them do this ,that’s not the only color though that does it,the gray color they have also does this,and the blue,its in the paint they used on those cars,the older ones it was the gray that did it the worst,but on the newer ones its the reds,all you can do is have it re-painted back to match the car,any good body shop can do this ,they will charge around 300 just for the bumper though,that isn’t too bad though considering the cost of paint these days,good luck with it.
Q: How to or where to cix mist in dodge neon 2000?
I have a yr 2000 Dodge Neon. Its a 4 cylinder.
It also has a mist which makes the car shake a lot.
How do I fix this?
Or where do i go to get it fixed?
As a matter of fact, what could CAUSE this?
A: could be the coil pack may be going bad,a plug wire may be faulty,or just a bad plug.
I would check for a fouled plug or dead wire first,Then move to the coil .
If you still have no cure check engine cylinder compression to be sure they are sealing well all should be close to even with each other.You can check injectors with a tester to see if they are firing.
Have you changed your fuel filter ? if fuel pressure is restricted it may not get enough pressure across the line to feed cylinders correctly .
Q: Can I Change My 2000 Dodge Neon Catalytic Converter Myself?
I have a 2000 Dodge Neon. Can I change the catalytic converter myself without a welding torch to cut the pipe or any other obstacles? I know the new one will come with a pre-converter that bolts to the exhaust manifold. Or is the pre-converter in the exhaust manifold? I don’t remember. It shouldn’t be.
Thanks for your answers.
A: Your going to have to take a look underneath the car and see how the car is setup.
If there are bolts visible to where you are able to unbolt the cat from the rest of the exhaust, then you should be able to do it easily.
Before you attempt to do the work, hit the bolts with some PB blaster DAYS in advance. Soak them maybe like twice a day every day up until you do the actual removal/install.
Good luck.
Q: What damage does broken timing chain cause for a 2000 dodge neon?
I am looking at trading for a 2000 Dodge Neon, which has a broken timing chain. I was told that when a timing chain breaks, the valves also get damaged, along with the pistons. With this broken timing chain, would I expect to find other damaged parts, such as the valves and pistons?
A: you may not need a new engine but you for sure may have a few bent valves in it and did some damage to the top of a piston, anytime one of those breaks it will hit the valves in it,the only way you can find out if it has any bent valves is to pull the valve cover off and find out,if any valves are up and wont go back down on it,i guarantee you they will be some damage do it ,there always is,good luck.
Q: How to adjust the alternator belt tension on a 2000 dodge neon?
I’m replacing the alternator belt on a 2000 dodge neon, and I’d like to know how to put the correct amount of tension on the new belt. I read the service manual for it and it says to use a special tool that measures frequency and pluck the belt a couple of times and adjust until the frequency reaches 224-252 Hz.
I obviouslly don’t have anything capable of measuring frequency so I was just wondering how I can tell if the belt is tightened up properly?
Thanks,
-Jim
A: Tighten the shiit out of it. Serpentine belts make noise unless really tight. You should hardly be able to twist it 90 degrees.
Q: How do I change out Rear drum brake on a 2000 Dodge Neon to make them disk brakes like the front.?
I have a 2000 Dodge Neon 2.0L I bought front/rear drilled and slotted rotors for. I am trying to change out the rear Drum brakes and replace it with an assembly to house calipers so I may use my matching Rotos on the back. I just got new rims and it looks very bad against the new rim.
A: this would be an expensive and time consuming conversion.
the brake lines, maybe master cylinder, and rear brake mounts would have to be changed, go to a junk yard and get all the parts off of a vehicle
Q: Who knows how to fix a power steering belt on a 2000 dodge neon?
I am fixing my wife car, 2000 Dodge Neon, and I having trouble with the power steering belt. I can’t seem to find the right bolt that I have to loosen so I can get the belt to fit. Please help.
A: You need to find the tensioner, it may be low on the engine
Q: What is better a Super charger or Turbo kit for a 2000 dodge neon?
I have a 2000 dodge neon that i would like to turn into a tuner car. I was wondering what would be best for it a Super charger or a Turbo kit?
Also if you have any other parts that would work good for my car let me know.
A: It would be cheaper to sell your car and buy an 03-05 Dodge Neon SRT-4 They come with a 2.4 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine that puts out 230hp and 230lbs of torque stock. Plus there are many performance parts available. You will spend a minimum of $3000 to supercharge or turbocharge your 2000 Neon and it still won’t be nearly as reliable or quick as the SRT-4.
Q: What website can i go to for answers about my 2000 Dodge Neon?
I just put an new engine in my 2000 Dodge Neon. Engine cranks but no spark and fuel delivery/fuel rail is pressurized. Any advice?
A: dodge.com
Q: How much should a tune up for a 2000 Dodge Neon cost?
I have a 2000 dodge Neon and I would like to have a tune up since I never had one (I know its wrong of me). I was wondering how much should a tune up cost and are they any particular places I should go have this done in Houston, TX?
A: if you want to do it yourself, change the plugs and plug wires. everything else is electronic. just make sure the plugs are gaped correctly before you install them. if you take it to a shop to be done, it should run about 120.00 (parts & labor). you may find something cheaper or will include an oil change too.
Q: Can a 2000 Dodge Neon hold a CD player instead of a radio?
I am a new car owner. I am getting a red dodge neon made in April 2000.
It has old school roll down windows and Manuel locks as well as a old school cassette radio.
Is it possible to remove this radio and put a CD player/clock radio in its place?
Can you give me a trustworthy site of a Car CD player that WORKS and FITS in my 2000 dodge neon? Thank you very much everyone I will be asking lots of questions on here.
A: Of course, what you need is the new radio, a wire harness, and a dash kit. for your particular car you will need these:
dash kit
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1668_Scosche+CR1277B+-+CR1277.html
wire harness
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701817/Receiver-Wire-Harness.html?tp=736&tab=other_items
and whatever radio you like. either of those sites have a great selection of radioes also
got any more questions you can message if you like
Q: Can anyone tell me where I can see a pic of a 2000 Dodge Neon with a front end bra?
I’m interested in possibly purchasing a front end protector/bra for my 2000 Dodge Neon but want to see a pic of what it will look like first. I can’t find one anywhere. Can anyone send me a link? Thanks!
A: Here is a pic of some from ebay and jcwhitney
Q: I pulled the interior light bulb above my head in my 2000 dodge neon, the battery keeps dying?
I pulled the interior light bulb above my head in my 2000 dodge neon. My car battery keeps dying though. The light stayed on because the back passenger door wouldnt shut completely and the light stayed on. I pulled it and the battery keeps dying. It can get jumped and run all day. Once the car doesnt get started for a certain amount of time it would need a jump. I was thinkin , alternator, possibly a new battery of course
A: Assuming the battery is good (go test it), pulling the bulb may not solve the complete problem. The problem is happening at the switch for the back door which is closing and sending out power. Maybe it also sends out power to something else (interior lights, exterior lights, dashboard warning, etc.)
Disconnect the switch… not the light bulb and see what happens.
.
Q: Can I put a 2003-2005 dodge Neon srt4 engine into my 2000 dodge neon? What modifications will i need to do?
I want to put a srt4 engine into my 2000 neon and make it quicker. will this be easy to do? what will it take? where can i find a cheap nice engine and trans?
A: yes you can do it but you need to change the mounts and part of the wiring harness,and the exhaust system,there’s a lot to consider when doing this though,so make sure you have access to all the parts you need to do it with,other wise the job will go from simple to hard real fast,good luck.
Q: What does that red circular light (looks like a dot) above the fuel gauge on a 2000 dodge neon indicate?
I’ve owned a 2000 dodge neon for acoupe years now, and for the first time recently, I noticed a little red circular light about an ince above my fuel gauge. It is undistinctive and dimmer than any ordinary service light. Its remained on since it originally came on. Does anyone know what this light indicates? Thank You
A: my guess is it is for your abs breaks
Q: Should I get a rx7 1994 as my first car?
As I pass by this car lot, I see this sexy rx7 for sales. Alway wanted to have one so I did some research on it. People be saying the car aint that reliable and gotta have money to maint it. I thinking if I do get it, Can I just drive it as a daily driver then useing it for drifting/racing?
A: No way- this car is rotary powered with a complex, problematic sequential twin turbo system. The electrical system is no picnic either. This would not make a good first car for anyone unless they had access to someone that is experienced with this particular car.
Being a ‘94 model if it hasn’t had a rebuild (or 2) yet then it is due for one. Very rarely do you find a car like this that is still stock. In a lot of these cars the complex turbo system is ditched for a single turbo set up which can be cheaper and easier to mantain. Just check some of the prices for various repairs (engine rebuild, turbo’s, ect.) and that should be enough to scare you off.
I agree this is a great looking car but can be more work than you may be willing to deal with.
Start with a less complex RX-7…
Q: rx7 1989 reliable non turbo ?
theres a rx7 for sale on my street i always wanted it and it finally went on sale ,,,,and it has 112,000km;s original km’s on the stock engine , no mods,other than cat back exhaust,,,,,the car look preety nice its a convertible ,,,,,and the paint looks nice but seems kinda dull cuz the paints still original no rust or anything,,,,the guy took me for a drive in it,,,,it was preety fast,,,,,the engine was roaring nicely……..he’s charging around 3500$ for it,,,,,and says he’s selling it cuz he needs some garage space cuz they have like 3 cars and a suv and said the rx7 was mostly in storage and he use’s it sometimes and says he takes care of it,,,,i dont know if i should get it i really want it but i dont want it to like break up once i get it ,,,,and the guy said he does all the maintance has a proper mechanic for it and ,,,,oddly he said he uses syntehic oil,,,,and from what i heard syntheic is apparently bad for rotatry engines so i dont know if ishould waste my parents 3500$ on this car just cuz i really like it,,,,i dont wanna let my parents down ,,,,,,,,what do u suggest
A: Buying a used rotary can be a hit or miss situation, but naturally-aspirated rotary’s usually last much longer than a turbo engine.
Also, there are some synthetic oils that are specially designed for rotary engines (Royal Purple, for example) but they can be hard to find.
Take the car to a rotary specialist shop to have it checked out and find out which mechanic has been servicing the car. If he is a good guy keep taking it to him as he already knows this car,
Then start checking out the forums at:
Q: how hard is it to put a 13b tt into an fd rx7?
i found a really nice looking 93 fd shell for sale. no rust, no dings, fairly new paint. the owner took the original blown engine out and sold it and was planning to put in a v8 but just never got around to it. im perfectly happy with having a rotary. how hard is it to put in the same engine(13b tt) back into this and bring it back to life. keep in mind i dont have much mechanical experience but im willing to learn.
A: hey. Make sure the engine is the same year as the shell. If you can get a pretty clean engine with decent miles on it, it will be easy. It will line right up and plug right in. Also, this would be a good time to get a new transmission if yours is worn. But it should be easy if you know someone with an engine lift. Should take about 3 days if you have a manual for the engine bay.
Q: Where to buy a Convertible RX7?
Where can I find one? Does anyone here know of one for sale? (in great condition)
A: They didnt make convertible FD’s. So the last model year to look for is the 90-91 model FC rx7. Just look around and you can find some. PRoblem is they are now at least 20 years old. There is a very nice one near me but you may have trouble finding one.
Q: wtb fc mazda rx7 turbo in northern california.?
anyone got one of these for sale? reasonable price.
A: There’s a few of them in the rx7club.com forum up for sale. Just have to check the city location or contact the seller cause some aren’t specific. Here’s the link…
Thanks
Also forgot one thing i have another car to choose from and that is an 03′ evo 8 with 50K miles on it both the rx7 and the evo are in my price range but i will be getting financial support from my father if i was to get the evo im really stuck on this decision
A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net
Q: does anybody have a sports car for sale?
i am looking for, but not limited too, any of a 1993 and newer camaro, 1988 and newer mustang, 1990 and newer nissan 300zx (must be turbocharged), 1990 and newer mitsubishi 3000gt VR4, 1990 and newer dodge stealth twin turbo, 1993 and newer mazda rx7, and 1994 and newer toyota supra turbo. thank you all in advance!
i forgot to mention at first my budget is about 5500. 6000 if you have and extremely well maintained and low mile car.
if you are going to give an answer like the first genious did, please dont post and dont waste my time. thank you.
Q: Best car for new driver,,i dont want my parents spending like 5-7grand ,,help?
i am a male and 17 ,,so yeah high risk insurance group,,,,but i need a car, i dont want anything expensive,,i was a 1989 rx7 non turbo thats on sale on my street for about 4000$,,,but my dad says that it’ll be too much on insurance and that its gonna suck in snow,,,but i dont wanna them to spend too much money since its a first car and i am not a pro driver yet,,,what can i do ,,i want a nice looking car like 1989 rx7 ,,but reliabilty is also a concern but my dad want to spend 5-7 grand straight out and i dont like any cars in that budget and the ones i do like are also going to be high on insurance and there is like no other way around it ,,,its going to be high for mostly any car,,,so what do i do and what cars can u suggest,,like rx7’s are old but still cool for me like i like the look and i always wanted a old car that i can work on my self and feel nice about it,,,maybe some of u guys know what i mean,,,
A: Your dads right,the r-x7 although an awesome car would cost more to insure.
I’d look for something like an older honda civic,nissan altima,chevy cavalier etc.
Such cars would last you a few years while being cheap to purchase/insure,good on gas,easier to get parts for etc.
Save for a few years and get something sweet like a Corvette,GT-R or Rx-8
Q: I want to sell my car, which has a lien on it…how?
I have a car which was used against a loan I co-signed for. The car is a 1987 Mazda RX7 and is not in great shape, but would still be valuable enough to an RX7 enthusiast, seeing as the engine was rebuilt and the tranny is still good. The loan the car was used as collateral again has about $1800 remaining on it, but I know if I sold the car I could not fetch that amount of money. I figure I would be able to realistically receive around $1000 for the car.
So, my question is: How do I sell this car? Do I have to pay off the $1800 first, or will the proceeds from the sale of this car have to go directly to the finance company that holds the lien? Will I have to contact them directly before the sale of the car or will the D&V office automaticall collect on their behalf? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I live in Ontario if that helps break down the question a bit further.
Q: How can I ‘tighten’ the bass in my subwoofer?
It’s a hard symptom to describe, idk if there’s an actual term for it, but the subwoofer in my car seems to vibrate longer than it should. It’s as if the cone is being held in place very loosely and every bass hit causes it to vibrate longer than the actual hit (kinda like how jello jiggles for a while after you move it). It makes the overall hits seem to be drowned out in this reverberating effect. Actually, that’s a good description. Something about my subwoofer causes the cones to vibrate loosely and gives the bass a reverb effect. How can I, and is it even possible to ‘tighten’ up the subs and make it less of a reverb and more of a solid punch.
As for the actual specifications I have: my subs are in the back of an ‘83 mazda rx7, so the direct airflow to the listener makes a huge boom. I have two 12 inch kicker subwoofers in an isobaric chamber facing front to front (and yes, i do have them wired correctly with one side having reversed polarity). Most of my sound system was purchased within the past year or so, but the subwoofers were purchased from a local yard sale (for 50 bucks, haha), so I figure they may be old. I don’t believe the foam has rotted or anything, but they may have lost some of their elasticity. I’m planning on replacing the foam sometime in the future, but would that fix the reverberation, or would it be some other problem with the voice coils or cone itself or something? Any ideas on how to fix the subs up?
A: Sounds like there is an air leak. This can be from the surround on the speaker being ripped or loose. Check to make sure that there is no air blowing from around the speakers because he screws holding it in can come loose also. There can be a leak from the glue line and seams on the box also. Another place they like to leak is where your speaker wires hook up to the box. Check everything to make sure there are no air leaks and I was wondering about your comment about the polarity being reversed on one of the subs. Why would you do that? They should be hooked up the same way so that both subs are pushing at the same time. If one is hooked up to pull instead of push it will bottom out and sound horrible. I think you have dual voice coils and are talking about having the jumper wire running from one side to the other reversed. If that is the case you are fine but I just wanted to be sure. Hopefully this helps.
Are you looking for a used cars in michigan? Check out the Trusted Automotive Market Place LemonFree.com
Q: where can i get a auto store that sales used cars in michigan?
A: www.freep.com
Q: Why do used cars seem so much more expensive in Michigan?
I live in Michigan. When I do used car searches on cars.com, etc, I’m familiar with the prices for the car I’m looking for around a particular mileage. Yesterday, I started expanding my search up to 250 miles from my zip code. Now, instead of just Michigan, my search is including Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, yada yada… It seems that the overwhelming majority of this type of vehicle, with aprox. similar mileage are quite a bit cheaper. Why would it be that used cars seem to me to be a bit more expensive?
A: It’s all based on competition plus supply and demand within the area you are specifically searching.
For example, Chicago has the most auto dealers, per capita, in the USA and they also have many more cars on the road than anywhere in Michigan.
Therefore, increased competition plus more supply of used cars = better deal for the buyer.
When travelling to Detroit, some deals on NEW domestic cars are amazing compared to the deals on new cars you can get in Chicago. I have to assume this is because the overhead for transporting is much lower on vehicles manufactured in Detroit.
Q: Getting a license plate for a recently bought used car in Michigan?
I am buying a used car here in Michigan from an individual but plan to move to Tennessee next week to go to college. Can I get Michigan plates and use them in Tennessee, or will I have to get Tennessee license plates when I move down there? If so, then can I just get a temporary Michigan license plate or something? I am an older adult, single, and living with my sister here in Michigan. Both of my parents are dead.
A: Do you plan to move to Tennessee and stay there? Or are you going back to Michigan after school? Are you paying out of state tuition? If so you are a resident of MI who happens to be going to school in TN.
Get a plate where ever you consider yourself a resident.
Q: I am looking on information about the steps in getting a michigan used car dealers license.?
i tried serching it but i just get stupid sites that just talk about dealers licenses. not how to get one. can any one help…
A: Michigan is a little more lax in car selling license than California- or so I have heard but this is what I know about California:
http://missmotamouth.blogspot.com/2007/12/getting-dealers-license-and-why-it.html
Q: I am looking for a used car in Michigan?
I am in Michigan and looking for a used car, I have 500 is there anyone here that has one forsale for 500
A: Hi
You can get really good cheap cars from auctions , you will find thousands of different auction and repo cars of all kinds of models really cheap at http://www.carauctiondeals.com
Hope this helps
Q: Do you need Car Insurance to register a used car in Michigan?
I don’t understand the DMV website and I figured someone can explain it better here.
Thanks for copying the WEBSITE..
A: Yes, you have to have insurance. This is from the Michigan Department of State:
Owners of passenger vehicles, vans, and light trucks must purchase Michigan no-fault insurance before registering their vehicle. Out-of-state insurance policies cannot be used to meet Michigan insurance requirements for registering a vehicle.
Motorcycles must also be insured, but it is not no-fault insurance.
Required coverages include bodily injury/property damage (BI/PD), personal injury protection (PIP), and property protection insurance (PPI). These required coverages do not pay for damage to your vehicle or cover theft. If you want your insurance company to cover damage to your vehicle or theft, you may choose to carry collision coverage (damage) and comprehensive coverage (theft).
Keep your Michigan no-fault insurance certificate in your vehicle or carry it with you when you drive. If you cannot show proof of insurance to a law enforcement officer, the court may order the Secretary of State to suspend your driver license. Until proof of insurance is shown, the Secretary of State will not renew, transfer, or replace your vehicle’s license plate. You may be required to prove the vehicle is insured for not less than six months and pay $50, plus any other fees required by law. The plate could also be canceled if proof of insurance is not produced.
Q: Can I get a used car dealership license if I want to sell cars from my house in Michigan?
I would only be keeping 2 or 3 cars or so. Besides my personal vehicles.
A: check local laws
Q: Can an extended auto warranty on used cars be cancelled and refunded in the state of Michigan?
I know this question has been asked before, but I want to know what applies on used cars and in the state of Michigan. Here are the details: I purchased my used car and extended warranty with a used car dealer in Michigan on 1/20/10. The warranty supposedly officially went to effect 1/25/10, but I didn’t receive the contract until 1/29/10. The information presented was vague and the used car dealer stated that it would cover certain repairs I was asking/wanting. In getting the contract and reading the fine print, much of what I thought would be covered is not and the coverage for what is covered is limited. The contract “fine print” states that there is “no early termination” except for if there is repossession by the lender or deemed by warrant carrier because of extensive repair (“go figure”) of which the refund will prorated and a $30 admin fee will be applied. What am I legally in right of when it comes to canceling the coverage for refund and what steps do I need to take?
-LMM
A: You are bound by the terms of the contract you signed, which you state doesn’t allow for early termination, so the answer to your question is “No.”
Q: Where can I find used cars under $5,000 in Michigan?
Used but in great condition.
A: U dont vote for best answer wooooo
Q: Can I buy a used car in Michigan and bring it back to California? If so….?
Will it cost extra? Are there emissions to deal with taking it from Michigan to California? Will I have problems registering it and getting California plates?
A: It must be certified to meet California smog laws, and it cannot be considered a new vehicle. Vehicles with greater than 7,500 miles on the odometer qualify as used.
*/End of Line.
Q: i want to buy a used car in Michigan, and bring it back to Canada- where i live. What am i going to have to..
… to pay in taxes, fee’s, etc. at the border crossing going back into Canada?
A: you have to check on the Canadian Web site ” import auto from
USA: I forget the web address, but if you search Canadian Government web site, they tell you exactly which car, age and model are allowed to import or modified, some cars are not even allowed to register in Canada, import car to Canada is very complicated, they made you go though Canada inspection standard, re-register the car and pay certain taxes, every model and age will have a impact of what you need to do. They might need you to change certain feature too.Make sure you check on the web before you buy the car, if not, they won’t let your car in and get stuck in US. Before you enter the border, you need all the document of the car, and fill out a lots
of paper work. I read the site, I think it is pain in the neck.
check. www.tc.gc.ca.,or search engine, how to import vehicle to Canada.
Q: I need Help….. Where is the best place to buy a used car in Michigan.?
I would like to buy an SUV. Any suggestions on which ones have the best gas mileage. I am a Real Estate Agent and drive alot so I need something that is good on gas. My credit is really bad and the only thing I have to trade in is a 97 Ford explorer with 190000 miles on it. And the drivers side door is smashed in and I cannot open it, also the brakes just started grinding really bad. Ahhhhhhh i need help. I need a car soon, like tomorrow.
A: Look in www.autotrader.com for used car.
The bet big SUV in gas I believe are the new Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia.
Q: used cars?
im 17 and looking to buy my first car. i want a tuner kinda car. i have around 2000$ to work with. does any one know of any good used car websites to look at? i live in michigan.
A: check out creigslist, and i would recommend a Honda they are reliable and easy and cheap to fix if anything happens, and you can find a good one in your price range
Q: How do I sell my car in Michigan when my Nevada Credit Union has the title?
My bank rep said that it could take up to 30 days once it is paid off to receive the title in my name. However, in Michigan the used car must be registered in the new owners name within 15 days. How do I sell my car? Any ideas?
A: You should wait until you have the title in hand. This way it avoids a problem later.
I do not think you can legally sell a car without the title in hand. To put it another way, if you were about to buy a car from someone you did not know and they said ‘they did not have the title yet, but it was on the way’, would you give them money before seeing the title?
Even though you are a trustworthy person, a prospective buyer does not know you and likely will not take that risk.
Another problem is, if you sell the car before having the title registered under the new owner’s name and he/she gets into an accident, this can legally fall on you too or at least be a legal hassle.
Q: need help.. want to buy a used car in michigan?
if i buy a used car in michigan is there sales tax? if so what percent? or how do they do it?
A: if you want to beat the tax man, theres one thing you must do. buy from a private owner and fake the purchase price on the title transfer. depending on what you are paying for a car it might be in your best interest to have a dealership check out car for you. its only 75 bucks. good luck
